About the Centre > What we do 
Conferences: Since it started in 1985, the Centre has held over 30 conferences in England and Lebanon addressing a wide range of topics including politics, history, economics, and education and development studies. Our last conference focused on 'Education for Social Cohesion' and took place over three days at the American University of Beirut, under the patronage of His Excellency the President of the Republic of Lebanon, General Michel Sleiman, October 2009.
Publications: The Centre has produced over 50 publications including books, papers on Lebanon and conference proceedings on a wide variety of topics.
International Contacts: The Centre is the focus of a large network of academics, journalists and policy makers and collaborates with major international institutions.
Independent Forum: The Centre has a reputation for providing an impartial and influential forum for discussion.
Archives: The Centre's archives and information base are a unique resource.
Dinner talks: The CLS invites well known speakers to give an informal and off the record talk. Questions and answers take place under Chatham House rules and cover economic and socio-political subjects concerning Lebanon and the Middle East. These usually take place in London.
Consultancy Services: The CLS offers consultancy services for policy makers, governments and national and international organisations in the field of education, refugees and international relations.
Research Fellows: Since 1985 more than 30 researchers have been attracted to the Centre for specific research projects. The Centre for Lebanese Studies has an annual Visiting Fellowship scheme at the Middle East Centre, St. Antony's College, University of Oxford, UK.
