Visiting Fellows

The Centre for Lebanese Studies has a Visiting Fellows programme whereby researchers working on Lebanon throughout the world are encouraged to visit the Centre at Oxford and contribute to its activities. This programme ensures a continuous international presence of scholars working on a variety of subjects. The Centre organises seminars at which its Visiting Fellows are asked to present a paper related to their field of research.

Ignacio Klich lecturer on Latin American history at the Faculty of Law, Languages and Communication of the London-based University of Westminster (1997-). Academic Coordinator of the Commission of Enquiry into the Activities of Nazism in Argentina (CEANA) (2001).
Author: Arab & Jewish Immigrants in Latin America ISBN: 0714648736/ 0714644501, and articals on Cuba's Opposition to Jewish Statehood in Palestine, 1944-1949.

 


Professor Kamal Salibi:
Professor of Sociology and Director of the Center for Behavioral Research at the American University of Beirut. Probably Lebanon's best-known Sociologist, Mr Khalaf has also held academic appointments at Princeton, as a Fulbright Scholar and visiting Professor of Sociology as well as Harvard, MIT and New York University. He is the recipient of several international fellowships and research awards. He is the author of numeorus books including most notably, Lebanon's Predicament (Columbia 1987), Beirut Reclaimed, Reflections on Urban Design and the Restoration of Civility (An Nahar 1994), Cultural Resistance, Global and Local Encounters in the Middle East (Saqi Books 2001). His latest book, Civil and Uncivil Violence will shortly be published by Columbia University Press. (2002)
